This study examines the influence of the increasing volunteer work in Danish elderly care and the work cooperation between volunteers and employees. The analysis is based on Ib Ravn’s theory of meaning of work-life, with supplement of Annette Kamp’s theory of meaning of work-life in elderly care. This analysis concludes that sense making in work-life in elderly care is in transition, because of the influence of New Public Management. Furthermore we analyzed the informant’s statements about the communication and cooperation at the nursing home, through a common sense method. This analysis concludes that these aspects were problematic and the communication between the volunteers and the employees were inadequate which have an in influence on the cooperation between the two of them. The project presents a suggestion to improve the cooperation and communication at the nursing home. We found that it would help the communication problems by establishing a staff meeting between the volunteers and employees. Furthermore it would help the cooperation if they had a common platform where they can get relevant information about the daily plans a nursing home.
