Fra kritisk sans til kritisk tænkning - en diskursanalyse af faghæfter for samfundsfag

Present master thesis is based on an interdisciplinary project between the subjects of pedagogy, educational studies and social science. The core of the project revolves around a discourse analytical approach to learning plans and curriculum made by the Danish ministry of education, for teaching in subjects equivalent to socialstudies in Danish primary schools. The project also draws on theory and notions of critical-theoretical perspectives of several contributors. The analysis focuses on the use and comprehension of concepts of critique, Bildung and democracy in the subject curriculum in a historical and contemporary perspective. To summarise, the analysis shows how ruptures and transformation in these concepts refers to changes in discourse. The discourse as analysed by the critical-theoretical notions shows in consonance with the discourse analysis, that curriculum concepts of purpose, contents and method changes over time, which is of consequence to the concepts of critique, Bildung and democracy, and can be considered in the light of ideological imperatives and discourse. The analysis finds, that at least two transformations of importance to critique, Bildung and democracy, can be derived: the one from the contents of ‘contemporary problems’ to a concept of ‘pupil competence’, and the one from the purpose of a ‘critical sense’ to a ‘critical thinking’.
