Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The main focus of this project is to analyze how groups use history as a part of their daily lives and in the process of creating their identity. The subject in this project is the culture among football fans in England and the chosen case is Arsenal F.C. We want to examine how individuals who may not have a lot in common can participate in the same community and to determine how groups use history in order to create and maintain their identity. The central element is historical and sociological concepts. The concepts originate from Bernard Eric Jensen and Birgitta Frello and these have been clarified in order to use them in the analysis. Our research question examines how reminiscences and the use of history forms part of the making of identity in communities. In order to answer this research question we have chosen three methodical approaches - a biography, an interview and Gunflash magazines. The interview questions have been devised by employing an interview guide by Steinar Kvale. The motive is to obtain knowledge from three different sources and to gain a wide perspective. The answers of the analysis will be compared in the conclusion and afterwards they will be put into a perspective.
