This study deals with how the local community, surrounding the recently opened bridge Trangravsbroen at Christianshavn, is affected by Copenhagen municipality's’ vision to be “The World’s best cycling city”. Inspired by Merjlin van Hulst we make use of storytelling as a model of and a model for planning, which leads us to examine which stories the municipality, local citizens and visitors tell about the new bridge and about the mobility changes in the examined area. The stories have been obtained by conducting a phenomenological ethnography field study and we have used the human geographer Edward Relphs theory about place and placelessness to further investigate the stories. We find, that the municipality tells a story about the new bridge, which gives an image of creating a green biking city, that will do well in the interurban competition. The local residents have many interesting considerations about the bridge, but one commonly told story, is that the area occupied by the bridge was expropriated, taking over a previous social spot, and that the municipality has overruled the local democracy.
