This project is a case study of the obstacles a development worker from MS can experience, working in Nepal. The study is based on the fact that MS has certain values they want to hand over to their nepalese partner organization. This is the development worker’s job to do. Within the Nepalese culture lies a set of values that are firmly rooted in the Nepalese culture. These values do not necessarily match the values of Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke. This created a conflict of interest and by that, some obstacles may arrive in the meeting between the MS and the partner organization. It is these obstacles that are the focus of the study. At first in the project we find the values that are reflected in Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke’s programs. Next, we study how the development worker experience the promotion of these values to a Nepalese partner organization. Furthermore we study how Bourdieu's conceptual apparatus can put the development worker’s experiences in perspective. The result of the studied case is that the obstacles the development worker meets is so huge that she eventually contributes to phase out the cooperation with the partner organization. The obstacles the development worker experience, can with Bourdieu's conceptual apparatus be explained with the fact that the development worker can not see the invisible structures in the partner organization. In this matter there will occur some fundamental misunderstandings, which reduces the opportunity the development worker has had to promote Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke’s values in the Nepalese partner organization.
