In this paper we will investigate the addition The European Parliament and the council has made to the payment service directive, which is the second directive of payment services, PSD2. The PSD2 directive will open the banks API’s concerning the consumers transaction data, for the TPP’s (Third Party Payment Service Provider). The TPP’s will be able to use the data in their marketing and make their campaigns and so forth more convenient and relevant for their consumers. The main reason for this part of the directive is however for The European Parliament, to increase the competition in the payment service and the internal market. The use of ANT (Actor-Network Theory) has been used to describe and illustrate the payment network, and how the directive will have an effect upon an already established market as well. Throughout our qualitative interviews we learned that the increased competition in the network, will heighten the quality of the products and services provided by the TPP’s and will affect the consumers in a positive way regarding their mobile initiating services.
