Folkeskolereformen – i krydsfeltet mellem KLs effektiviseringstiltag og lærernes motivation

The aim of this project is to analyze the relationship between motivation and efficiency in regard to the requirements of The Competition State, as seen in the new changes in the rules of work of the Danish elementary and secondary teachers, which the teachers are very unsatisfied with. And as a follow-up to these changes, and with the Principal Agent Theory in mind, to analyze the effects of giving demotivated teachers the responsibility of reaching the goal of establishing a better Danish Public School through the new reform of the Danish Public School System. The findings in this project shows that KL who are the employers of the teachers has decided to focus on efficiency over the teacher’ motivation hoping that the motivation of the teachers will be restored with time, when the changes show to be efficient. But this lack of teacher motivation shows in the decision that a big part of the teachers have taken in response. This decision is to follow the new rules, but not to take any personal responsibility for the results of the new reform, and this is a drawback in the efforts to create a better and more competitive Public School System.
