Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstrakt

This paper seeks to treat the issue of Inequality in Denmark. To satisfy this, a preliminary investigation of the political tendency and form of government in Denmark is conducted. This is done by analyzing the implemented labor market policies and tax policies. Following this, the differences between the municipalities of Gentofte and Lolland in a number of core areas is examined. In addition the nature of these differences is investigated, in an attempt to clarify the unequal nature of these differences and the consequences they have. Afterwards, the paper proceeds to ascertain the link between the conducted policies and the observed inequality between the given municipalities, by utilizing the theory of inequality and the intrinsic mechanisms within it by Göran Therborn. Lastly, the paper discusses how the consequences of the rising degree of inequality can be countered and the role of the examined forms of state may play in this effort, as well as which tools may be used.
