This project examines the book "Digtere og dæmoner. Fortolkninger og vurderinger" (1959) by the Danish author Villy Sørensen. It’s primary focus is to investigate the poetic, which we believe captures the essence of the work. Furthermore we will try to deduce the function of the poetic, which function it can offer society. We believe that the poetic offers a recognition, that can be used by the individual to interpret the absurdities of life, and thereby gain a plus in the seemingly meaningless life - whose ontological baseline is “the fall” (Faldet). This recognition describes the relationship in which the artist believes that the fall is the prerequisite of the true lifeexperience (Gentagelsen). Sørensen’s "Digtere og dæmoner" is said to be an essayistic work, on basis of this, the project investigates how the form and content constitutes the whole of the poetic. Both plays a part in the perception of the poetic - a dialectical relation. We conclude that Sørensens poetic is an absolute truth, but in its own relative form - due to Sørensens paragraph: There is nothing but interpretations and evaluations (fortolkninger og vurderinger). These are the only options the modern individual has: Interpret and evaluate!
