Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The following report analyses problematics regarding the subject farthers on maternity leave. The report will aim to answer the problem: How does the existing ideal for men enable that danish men takes part of the maternity leave? To answer the problem the following theorists will be included: R. W. Connell, Judith Butler, Dorte Marie Søndergaard & Pierre Bourdieu. The answer will be based on conducted interviews with fathers from fars legestue supported by external empirical material by Bente Marianne Olsen. The main conclusion of the report argues that the traditional man role is under resolution despite permanent structures in the society. These structures however are rooted in the biological differences between men and women and are therefore not completely changeable. Because of the resolution of the traditional man role new ideals for the man to reflect upon occurs. That explains why more men today takes part in the maternity leave.
