This thesis work investigates on the development trend of information/data sharing paradigm from its inception until today and the approaches practiced to support it.
Firstly the approaches and technologies that were necessary to understand the trend was investigated individually, which formed the base for the further analysis and evaluation of the trend. For the enhancement of knowledge about information sharing through practical work, an application that integrated shared data from different data sources was developed and to address users’ need, Software Development Life Cycle Principle was followed. Few Usability tests were carried out to study the usability of developed prototype from users’ perspective. Acknowledging the users feedback, the prototype was improved iteratively.
Information sharing is becoming more and more important. It is developing as a common practice. With the flow of technological development, new approaches evolve and replace the older ones. Approaches that utilize the available best practices and technologies seemed to be most adopted and sustained for longer period of time.
Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy was used as the framework for achieving the learning objectives.
