Euroman - Hegemonisk maskulinitet i nye klæder

The group has used Pierre Bourdieu’s theory on the masculine dominance and symbolic violence to illustrate how Euroman’s male ideal can influence Danish men’s identity. We have on the basis of Raewyn Connell’s theory on masculinity illustrated that the hegemonic masculinity still is the most current, though it through changes caused by time exist in “new robes”. Through the two interviews we have conducted, one expert interview with Kenneth Reinicke and one life world interview with two Euroman readers it is evident that the male ideal presented in Euroman is the successful metropolis man. Through the above it is possible to deduce that Euroman’s content choice automatically excludes some men from identifying themselves with the male ideal. Euromans male ideal does not challenge men’s identity given that it does not differ significantly from the hegemonic masculinity. We can conclude that it is the "Euroman-community" that affects men's habitus through symbolic violence by verbalizing the content of the magazine.
