Ethical Implications in Invasive Species Management

Giuseppe Cascio

Studenteropgave: Basisprojekt

Since the early stages of life on this planet, organisms have migrated from their native place and environment. The organisms often start a competition, with the species already present in the ecosystem they move to, over the resources available, in many cases changing the whole ecosystem in a non-reversible way. In a historical view, especially in the last decades, due to the transportations related to human activities, these migrations have intensified and dramatically extended in terms of distances covered; it is a priority to understand these events, intervene in order to save the ecosystems, and the services they provide. Ethical considerations cannot be left aside in the moment of deciding on the strategies to adopt.
