This bachelor project examines the thesis how does the Danish government use the news platform regeringen.dk for political communication and which democratic implications can be associated with this? The methodology is based on a complete content analysis of 754 units on regeringen.dk from the launch in August 2016 until April 2018. The results show that the Danish government uses both political logic and media logic in their political communication at regeringen.dk. These results are compared with the independent media jyllands-posten.dk through a second content analysis. The comparative analysis shows that regeringen.dk is not a critical media and does not facilitate the citizens’ participation in the public debate compared to jyllands-posten.dk. Based on the results of the analysis and the theoretical framework in the project, we have discussed potential democratic implications associated with regeringen.dk. The content of regeringen.dk has no direct negative or positive democratic implications. However, viewed from a larger perspective the strengthening of ministry's communications units can lead to democratic problems, if this means that politicians avoid interviews with journalists from independent media.
