This project report deals with value-based management and focuses on the applicability of valuebased management in a large Danish company like Post Danmark. A case study of Post Danmark is made, based primarily on qualitative interviews. The case is analyzed on the basis of Mette Morsing’s theory of value strategies, Edgar H. Schein's theory of organizational culture and Karl Weick's theory of sense making. The analysis broaches Post Danmark's strategic approach to valuebased management and work with value-based management in practice, as well as a critical perspective, where the relation between value strategy and work with value-based management in practice is analyzed. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that there is a sense of disharmony between the organizational culture and the values. The values are not always taken to heart, which may be rooted in a lack of understanding of the values. In addition, it can be seen that the work with value-based management in practice is characterized mostly by control. In light of these conclusions it can be inferred that the framework for working with value-based management in a company like Post Danmark is not optimal.
