This report deals with the articulation of home births in a context of the public field of gestation, as to which issues this articulation may imply for the agents involved. It includes an account of Norman Fairclough’s approach to critical discourse analysis, followed by a critical discourse analysis of an interview with two midwives, which includes other texts and articles. Throughout the report, and especially in the analysis of sociocultural practice, we focus on potential issues of e.g. stigmatisation in the articulation of home births. These potential issues are discussed in relation to societal tendencies of responsibility, thought of risk and budget cutbacks.
