This report rose from a common questioning within the group in relation to the lack of transparency when buying food and knowing how big of an environmental impact the production of that food has had. We know through the daily debates and todays political agenda that mankind has had a negative impact on the environment. Through our empirical research we have chosen to dedicate this report to our climate.
The purpose of this report is therefore to make a product which will lead to reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Based on Ulrich Becks theories, ‘Risk society’ and ‘The other modernization’ we address what society we are living in today. We also explain the necessity to reduce GHG emissions significantly within the next few centuries and reach a Net zero emission before 2050 for the sake of our biodiversity but not the least for humankind. We highlight the massive GHG emission which agriculture is responsible for and especially the production of meat. All together the Danish agriculture makes up for 21% of the Danish total GHG emissions and through a change of eating habits the GHG emissions from agriculture will decline significantly.
We acknowledge the difficulty in changing eating habits, so through an analysis of audience we have found that the political consumer needs to be activated to make such a change of the production of agriculture possible. Furthermore, we explain how all humans have cognitive behavior which is yet another obstacle in changing the eating habits of humans. At last we will introduce the final product which has been developed based on the analysis in our report.
