Studenteropgave: Speciale

This project concerns a social constructivist understanding, of how people in relation to others construct, negotiate and maintain their social practice. The projects theory is based on discursive psychology by Jonathan Potter and Margeret Wetherell, among others. Our target field concentrates about The Specialized Social field (DSS) in a municipality, where one of us is employed as an extern family therapist. The origin of the project is inspired by our background of interest in our individual fields as respectively family therapist and school headmaster, from where the possibility of establishing contact with three social workers with each their subject of profession has been made possible. The Specialized Social field has since the latest municipal reform in 2007 gone through several structural changes, which has resulted in changes in the organization and for the individual coworker. These changes are the context of our conversations with the social workers. Our interest is centered on studying how they construct understanding of their social practice with the purpose of studying how people use various linguistic strategies with others.
