Studenteropgave: Fagmodulprojekt

Plant medicine has an immense potential as therapeutics or supplements for a healthy lifestyle. Emblica officinalis, has a significant role in ayurvedic medicine cultures as a source of vitality and vigor. The focus of this project is on the antioxidative and proliferative effects as a preventive for cancer. The extracts from various parts of Emblica officinalis contain numerous phytochemicals amongst them considerable amounts of polyphenols like gallic acid, different tannins such as pyrogallol and corilagin along with vitamins, flavonoids and amino acids. The extract of especially the fruit, is identified to be efficacious as antioxidant and as antiproliferative on several cancer cell lines. However more systematic and streamlined research is required to determine the exact potentials as cancer preventive.
