Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Through our project we attempt to uncover the underlying ideologies in the Welfare Commission Report and the government proposals, addressing Neo-liberalism, the New Right, Third Way and Human Capital Theory among others. We have focused on how the proposals are changing the basic values we attribute to knowledge, and welfare in general, and what consequences these changes hold for future students, if implemented. Further we have tried to illustrate the extensive investment in Human Capital, regarding education as a financial investment. The focal point of our project is the use of economic means to further the idea of education as the manufacturer of highly educated labor. Beyond this we have addressed Bourdieu, the historical background of the university and different types of welfare.
