The purpose of this paper is to find a way to reduce the massive food waste happening in the supermarkets and specifically in SuperBrugsen Trekroner, who is a part of COOP. To examine this problem the use of methods are interviews with SuperBrugsen, an app-expert, a group of five students, who are the focus group, and also the voxpop method is used among 50 students on campus. Besides the interviews the best cases are the fundamental of the product. The way of coming through the process is by following Soft Design Science Methodology by Jan Pries-Heje et. al. We are also using Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation and Rate of Adoption to implement marketing of the app.
The result is a design solution, which is a mock-up of an app, which is going to be a part of the way to reduce the food waste in the supermarkets. The final product is designed with the feedback from the interviews and the best cases. This mock-up of an app is to make it easier for people to buy the almost expired food for a less amount of money.
