Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This study examines the thesis of theoretical possibilities and barriers for an economical growth for underdeveloped countries through a membership of a regional cooperation. In this study, the focus is on the regional cooperation East African Community. The economic theories which have been used in this study are theories on a liberalisation of trade, protectionism, tariff efficiency and trade distortion, also political theories of regional integration and furthermore neomarxist dependency theory help to examine the thesis. The study concludes that even though there are some possibilities in market liberalisation and regional cooperation, often underdeveloped African countries conditions makes it difficult to fulfil these possibilities.
