Studenteropgave: Basisprojekt

This paper investigates the ethics in the graphic novel, V for Vendetta, written by Alan Moore, and
illustrated by David Lloyd in 1982. V for Vendetta takes place in a dark future where society has
evolved in a negative direction as it is with most works within the dystopian genre.
The assignment begins with a clarification of concept in relevant theories connected to the analyses
and discussion.
The analyses presents the construction of the fascist society and the main character, V. Furthermore
the analyses contains an argument analyses of the two ideologies, which are represented by V and
the Leader.
The thesis concludes that V is an anti hero and a believer of utilitarism, who fights for anarchy. The
Leader, on the other hand, is a fascist, but, like V, a utilitarist. They both justify their actions by
their goal even though their goals are opposites. It is a typical dystopia as it revolves around
extreme ideologies and an anti hero as the protagonist.
