Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Our project’s aim is to examine the possibility of binding factors between the concepts of suicide, martyrdom, self-sacrificial death and dying for an ideal with Socrates and Jesus. We will analyze principles which can explain the actions of these characters in light of what the philosophers Plato, Albert Camus and Arthur Schopenhauer said about suicide. Furthermore, we will examine the reasoning behind these choices in link to sociological theories on suicide and what different types of suicide there are according to Emilé Durkheim.
