Abstrakt

This study explores how health is portrayed by Danmarks Radio, the Danish Public Service Broadcasting Corporation, in our case, the fourth episode of the TV series Lægen flytter ind, through an analysis with focus on dramaturgy, genres and framing. Furthermore, the purpose is to discuss the sort of impact that this framing might have on viewers perceptions of health and what kind of media obligations this impact implies. We have conducted the analysis and discussion in accordance with the theoretical notions of associate professors Christa Lykke Christensen and Anne Jerslev and media professor, Stig Hjarvard, at the University of Copenhagen and many more. In sum, the conclusion to this study is that Lægen flytter in contains elements from several genres such as reality, documentary and lifestyle programs. Therefore the episode establishes different expectations to the perception of the presented content in the minds of the viewers. Moreover, the case provides a rather simplistic understanding of health, which might entail consequences regarding the viewers’ perceptions of the phenomena. However, this entirely depends on the kind of impact, which one believes the media to posses.
