Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project is examining the ethical concerns towards documentary filmmaking, in regard to the influence of documentary film on the discourse of public debate in society. With a detailed examination of the documentary ’Armadillo’ by Janus Metz and its artistic effects, this project researches the debate in Danish media of the film. The project is working both with a critical discourse analysis, which shows the different discourses within Danish media in the aftermath of ‘Armadillo’ followed by an analysis of film effects on the documentary. In combination of these two analysis the project is examining the influence of the artistic effects used in the documentary on the discourse in media or moreover debate in society. The project will reflect on the ethical considerations of documentary filmmaking with Armadillo as an example. These reflections are done based on theory about ethics in journalism by John C. Merrill, worked out together with the documentary theory of Bill Nichols, Peter Harms Larsen and Jonathan Kahana.
