This paper examines how diversity in a Danish company is being dealt with and our origin will be in a factory in the cleaning industry based in Denmark. Our project investigates the identification of the workers in the company. This will be investigated through the use of Jenkins’ ‘Rethinking Ethnicity: identity, Categorization and Power’. Furthermore the paper seeks to answer the difficulty of working your way up in the factory as a non-Danish factory worker. Hereafter the division between the factory workers and the administration team will be explained through the principle of recognisability. Thereafter we will dive into how the subjects position themselves towards their colleagues, how they position their groups of ethnicity towards the rest and hereunder how minority/majority groups are influenced by how many colleagues with the same ethnicity one have on the factory. This will be done, to answer how diversity can affect the social positions in the company. At last there will be discussion of the method used for the empiricism that lays ground for the analysis.
