This paper presents an examination of the didactical problems associated with the learning of dimensional analysis. This will be done through analysis of examples, from a didactical perspective based on the general model of conception developed by Anna Sfard. Since the authors of this study has no prior knowledge to dimensional analysis, we subject ourselves to the given examples under the shrewdly guidance of our supervisor, in order to reifi- cate the concept of dimensional analysis. Our analysis shows no significant difficulties in the learning of dimensional analysis itself, but that this is only true when equations are viewed from a critical rationalistic point of view. We also stress the importance of knowing the underlying theory in physics.
