Digitalisation in kindergartens

Abstrakt

As the use of digital systems is increasing rapidly, it has become an important part of many peoples
work life. The broad range of different digital systems has resulted in an unlimited number of different
digital solutions, being offered to different organisations every day. What is more, digitalisation has
now also become an essential part of many institutions including kindergartens, with the simple
mission of improving the everyday tasks that these kindergarten teachers are facing. For this reason,
organisations such as Børnehusene Buldervang, a municipality owned kindergarten placed in the city
of Kalundborg, have to invest both time and money in the implementation of the chosen digital system
– BørneIntra.
The purpose of this project is to analyse the impact that the implementation of digital systems has on
the organisational structure at Børnehusene Buldervang. The research findings indicate that the
implementation of BørneIntra has not been successful, since there is an extensive discontent from
both the management and the employees. Furthermore, by researching it becomes evident that the
management of Børnehusene Buldervang are excluded from making the final decisions regarding the
use of BørneIntra. Although this has not obligated in any large effects on the organisational structure,
it has created a distance between the leaders and the employees.
The research reflects upon how the communicative interactions between the management and the
employees needs to be in focus, to meet the needs of the employees regarding more information about
BørneIntra in order to be able to strengthen their digital competencies. Furthermore, the studies have
opened up for discussion about how the management can improve their leadership style with the use
of a Complex Responsive Perspective.
