This project deals with the problematic of merging the written newspaper and the Internet. Today, the newspaper remains the only medium through which in-depth journalism is conveyed adequately. This means that we as consumers of media will experience a loss of quality in the media landscape if the Internet does not manage to live up to the quality of the newspaper in terms of journalistic depth. Based on Everett M. Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovations, we have put forward the thesis that the development of an innovation can be affected through an external design. The project can therefore be seen as the first phases of a designing process, because we have been working with formulating criteria for conveying news through a new platform, but have refrained from developing the platform physically. We have worked with target group analysis, focus group interviews and, through a comparative analysis of two theories of dissemination, produced an analysis of the conveying potential of the Internet.
