Since the smartphone has taken modern world by storm, we’ve brought in all the merits and opportunities the internet brings us to our everyday lives. All of the world’s knowledge and social interconnectivity are now constantly available to us, all you have to do is reach for your pocket. Drawing from a social constructivist worldview, this report combines the theories of Erving Goffman, Pierre Bourdieu and Michel Foucault, with a qualitative methodological research approach, to give a glimpse of how this transition has affected the subject’s identity shaping processes that happens in everyday life. It concludes that such a project could indeed be achieved. The project concludes with viewing the challenges of the making of identity through the smartphone and presented from the three theoretic points of view.
