Abstrakt
The project is concerned with the lengths to which individualization is administrated and managed differentiated amongst young Danish gymnasium students of dissimilar social background. The project’s theoretical disposition consists of Ulrich Beck’s theory of reflexive modernity and individualization, Pierre Bourdieu’s capital and habitus terminology, Scott Lash’s notion of reflexive winners and losers, Threadgold, Nilan and Sweetman’s term reflexive habitus, and last but not least, Klaus Rasborg’s thesis of differentiated individualization. The subject is investigated by means of three carefully selected focus groups, each of which is representative of respectively a working, middle- and upper middleclass. The concluding argument made in relation to the empirical evidence and analysis presented in this study, supports the thesis that the administration of individualization to a large extend is based on social classes.
