Det transcendente menneske

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This study has its point of departure in a prophecy made by Raymond Kurzweil in 2005. Kurzweil is an acknowledged name in the research of computer technology. He claims that we will be able to make an exact copy of the human brain in the year 2045 and thereby create immortality. This study will include a philosophical approach to what consciousness and identity is, as we assume that these are some of the most defining attributes of human beings, and they are the attributes at stake if such a prophecy should come true. There will also be a discussion concerning what this development will mean for the world and society as we know it, put together by ideologies of transhumanists and bioconservatists who respectively are for and against this devolvement. It is necessary to say that there is no definite answer as none of this has happened yet, which is not to be confused with the importance of this study, as the development of technology already seems to lead us in that direction.
