This project has two parallel currents. A) It investigates the current juridical and political situation in Denmark, using the analytical apparatus of the contemporary Italian philosopher of law, Giorgio Agamben. A new initiative to expand the existing cooperation between the Central Intelligence Service (PET) and the psychiatric treatment system, a ruling by the Appeal Committee of Employment (Ankestyrelses Beskæftigelsesudvalg) and initiatives to new legislation on Assisted Reproduction are being analyzed. The three empirical cases are selected to show the similarities and differences in the political and juridical structure and processes in diverse areas. B) The projects is concerned whit the dual evaluation of Agambens analytical and diagnostic apparatus; the project investigate and discuses both the analytical strengths and weaknesses and the normative implications of Agambens theory. The project concludes, that the political and juridical situation in Denmark today is both “biopolitical” and worrisome, and that Agambens concepts – in spite of their obvious shortcomings – points our attention towards important issues.
