Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project investigates the constellation of relationships in the late modern Danish society. The study is based on four interviews, with individuals who has their own definition of a romantic relationship; a monogamous man, a polygamous man, a woman who thinks sex has no place before marriage, and a woman who has sexual relationships with multiple men, without further obligations. The interviews are analysed through narrative theories and positioning theories, to locate the values in the relationships that are most important to the individuals. The study then takes a closer look at the theories of Erich Fromm’s “The Art of Loving”, and uses these theories to discuss how society has an impact on the individual. There are different sorts of impacts such as the media, literature and the overall structure of society, which all have a negative influence on the individual and the way of which it understands the monogamous relationship as the ideal type of relationship.
