This research paper examines the influence on Albania of the imports of the secondhand EEE, electronic and electric equipment, seen through the theoretical framework of World-System Analysis. Through the analytical framework the focal points are the environmental, economic, social and political implications of the import. The research shows that the households gain access to cheaper electronic devices, household appliances, jobs and business opportunities. Thus business related to secondhand EEE thrives, but at the dispense of what is related to new EEE. The jobs related to recycling is however precarious, dangerous and unhealthy. Due to the import more waste is also accumulated and because of the dysfunctionality of waste management and weakness of the state Albania, this causes severe pollution of the environment with toxic repercussions in the soil, air, water and health of the people. Which is devastating for Albania since it is very dependent on its agricultural production and tourism. Lastly the research finds that, due Albania’s weaker semi-peripheral status, it is unlikely the situation will change due to international relations with EU and Turkey.
