Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The following paper examines the current day Permanent Secretaries and what their posi-tion includes. An on-going debate on the increasingly political role of the civil servants has frequently resurfaced in the media due to the recurrence of high profiled cases featuring ministerial errors. In addition to the Minister, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry in question often plays a central role in these cases, as he is the link between the civil servants and the minister. In relation to this development scientific research has throughout the latest decades identified a tendency towards a more politicised public administration in Denmark. This paper does not focus on this general politicization of the civil servants, but rather spe-cifically on the Permanent Secretary and the development within his position.
