In our project, we are trying to find answers to what drives people to be part of a start-up network organization and what kind of effect organization structure have on their motivation. Our research is based on qualitative interviews that were conducted with three members of a start-up organization called Nordic Unity. Nordic Unity has the aim to create a network in the Nordic countries and promote urban dance via coordinating events and creating a community. Through our research, we identified several factors that motivate people and found that their involvement is connected with passion. Moreover our findings point to that organization structure is connected with driving forces in a way, that can either give space for motivation to appear or can limit it. In our case the organization structure was supporting motivation. Our results are based on limited number of interviews in a specific context, that’s why their broad acknowledgement requires further research.
