In this project the intension has been to highlight the values of which the society is based upon and to explain the implications for the identity found in a modern urban environment. In practice this meant that we had to look at the way we perceive the society and the networks that binds it together. Through this we saw the importance of the movement created by the mobility. Furthermore we realized that the mobilization of the inhabitants, to some extent, is the fabric that binds the society together and further enables its existence. The mobility of the society is a fundamental part of both the city and the inborn culture and is therefore an ideal place to observe the tendencies and elements that characterizes the society of today. As every other essential aspect in the society, the mobility contains both the norms and values created to the society, by the society. This assignment sheds light on the modern city of Copenhagen in an era of efficiency and the following effects of this. In an attempt to discuss this as a problem, we analyzed the metro of Copenhagen because it is an example of efficiency in a pure sense. This is directly manifested in the public areas such as the platform found in the metro. From the start it was our conviction, that the metro is designed with an efficient and frictionless layout. To confirm this, we conducted a study based on observations in the metro focused on the movements created by the physical elements. This created the need to describe how the elements influenced the individual passengers through their patterns of movement and further hold the chosen theories accountable to the previous results. To obviate this need, we have considered the chosen theories and what impact they have on our results, due to the specific combination found in this assignment. Finally, we implement a reflection about the significance of the efficiencies’ impact on the society. We clarify the necessity of the efficiency for the modern urban society and on the same time describe how the prioritization has restraining consequences on the urban society. As the final verdict, we account for the need of a paradigm shift in the case of mobility. This will make it possible to conduct a further development and choose the most beneficial way and not just the most efficient.
