Den gode overgang – En analyse af unges meningsdannelse mellem gymnasial- og videre uddannelse

Abstrakt

The aim of this project is to obtain an understanding of why many high school graduates find the transitional phase between high school and further education stressful and difficult. Therefore this project seeks to establish an understanding of the influences young high school graduates are subject to during their sabbatical years. The empirical foundation revolves around a critical theoretical utopian workshop with six young participants. The workshop methods normative basis is to establish a non-judgmental space for experience sharing with a goal of empowerment and emancipation. During the workshop the participants constructed a normative understanding of ‘the good transition’ an understanding, which is put to use in a comparative analysis of the initiative ‘Nørrebro UNI’. Thomas Ziehe’s theory on the cultural liberation are made in to an analytical framework enabling us to understand – through our empirical findings – what conditions young people are faced with in the pursuit of a happy and meaningful life in the second modernity. The projects conclusions point towards that if the broader society is genuinely interested in getting these young people to further educate themselves then it might find that motivation through attractive and flexible educations far outperform economic sticks and carrots incentives.
