Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project deals with the reconstruction of the old ottoman bridge, Stari Most, in Mo-star, Bosnia. The project is critical towards the symbolism that the bridge has been given by the leading figures in the reconstruction process, this is mainly because there are con-flicts to trace in this subject. Mostar is an ethnically divided city, and this dividedness be-comes very visible when Stari Most is studied. Different ethnical groups have different thoughts and memories of this particular place, therefore this project will theoretically deal with the Old Bridge as a place of memory. This is done by analyzing the very dis-course behind the reconstruction of the bridge and how it is welcomed by the different ethnical groups in Mostar. Finally, it will be discussed if the bridge as a place of memory can help express a Bosnian community in Mostar.
