This paper introduces a phenomenological scientific approach. The phenomenon in question is the Danish implemented healthcare IT-system called Sundhedsplatformen. Through an existential psychological ‘inside-out’-perspective, the scientific paper intends to get an understanding of the implications that follows the wake of the implemented IT-system. To establish our vision, we will inter- view a nurse in the Danish healthcare system, to picture the ‘inside-out’-perspective. Throughout this paper you will be presented with three theoretical existential views upon the implications of the implemented IT-system. First, we will present Martin Heidegger and his founding theories about vorhanden and zuhanden, which will be used to understand how the interviewed person ‘Anne’ experience the IT-system. To further elaborate the existential view Jean-Paul Sartre’s theoretical view upon praxis and alienation. With praxis we display how Anne’s workplace changes from one way of working, to another. Concurrent, praxis is the bridge to get an understanding of how Anne might be alienated at her workplace through the use of Sundhedsplatformen. As a closure we will argue how a change in praxis and the alienation that the change in praxis might bring, can produce what Irvin D. Yalom describes as an existential meaninglessness. We argue that the existential meaninglessness is based upon the culmination of existential death, existential freedom and existential isolation. The idea of Anne as an outdated entity at her workplace, excels as an existential death. The existential freedom states that Anne herself is responsible for changing her work situation, which she is unable to accomplish. Hereby we argue that she experiences an existential isolation in so far that she wants to continue at her workplace but cannot find a spot suited for her. All this in combination situates her in a position between positions, with only herself to rely on – an existential purgatory.
