Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Working on this study, our intent has been to answer our problem formulation and hypothesis, namely has the growth of the European Union had an effect on the legitimacy of the union. We have worked with theories on integration, democracy, identity and nationalism, in order to answer this very question. Through this study, we have tried to analyze aspects of the European Union, in order to explain the problems that its legitimacy is facing. Further on, we will through theories try to determine how it seems to try to cope with said problems. In the end, we concluded that the growth of the European Union has indeed created issues of legitimacy, and that these are partly due to its undefined boundaries, thus validating our initial hypothesis.
