The purpose of this project assignment, is to unravel the values and the preconditions of an economy based on sharing and maximising the use of resources. The exploration of the sharing economy have shown us a vastness of ways to interpret and implement sharing values. The difference in the understanding of the sharing economy, made us wonder of the values connected to the sharing economy. Through a further investigation we found a link between communities and sharing, which have been the base of the projects understanding of how to designate whether a given company is based on actually sharing. In the development of the project assignment, we chose to focus on the company GoMore, due to their structuring through peer-to-peer. Peer-to-peer is especially interesting because of the relations created between the user base. The investigation of these relations has been the main focus, due to the wish of determining whether these are in fact communities, or just an other common network which characterizes the modernity. Richard Sennett has contributed with his analysis of the modernity, and how the human in the pursuit of freedom and flexibility is left without any close connections or any feeling of belonging. The void which just was presented, has taken form as a criticism towards the capitalistic values, whom doesn’t manages to constitute the desired communities. Boltanski & Chiapello postulates how criticism is a fundamental part of capitalism, and that only though the adoption of criticism, the capitalism is able to legitimize its further existence. In actuality this means that companies whom facilitates these wanted communities, will be placed in a sweet spot with good opportunities for profit. This leads to the reason for looking at the communities which are found at GoMore. We wish to find whether GoMore constitutes communities based on social values, such as solidarity, trust and dependence; or if these communities are just an over way to feed the consumerism.
