Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project aims to examine tendencies in late modern society that may influence women’s choice to have children and a career. We also wanted to study how Danish women experience the balance between career and family life. The field of research in this project is based on a sociological and social psychological perspective. The theoretical basis is mainly based on Klaus Holzkamp critical psychological concepts and Anthony Giddens' modernity theory. The method concerning this project is a qualitative focus group interview, where the aim was to gain insight into women's experience of career and family life. We conclude that it seems to be a challenge for women to balance careers and family life. The women discussed challenges such as the importance of their career, finances, their individual needs, the temporal perspective, the ideal image of the female role and the bad conscience at the workplace and family.
