Dansk Folkeparti: gi' os Danmark tilbage - en ideologi- og ideanalyse af diskurser

Shaho Pirani, Helgi Eidesgaard, Tinna Kryger & Michael Frischauf

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

In the project we have concerned ourselves with The Danish People’s Party’s view on the concepts of the nation, democracy and the people, and how the party uses these concepts through discourses. To investigate this thesis we have substantiated our theoretical approach with Benedict Anderson’s, Michael Billig’s, and Peter Gundelach’s basic theories on nationalism, and also Andrew Heywood’s and others’ thoughts on democracy and citizenship in the Danish welfare state’s democratic model. Subsequently we have employed a social constructivist approach in our further investigation of the thesis, wherein we have utilized Kenneth Lynggaard’s analysis of ideas, and Teun Van Dijks ideology analysis. We have used these analyses in order to deduce ideas and ideology from our selected empirical data, which primarily consists of The Danish People’s Party’s Arbejdsprogram/policy agenda, together with other statements from the party’s leadership. Finally we have investigated if traces of Van Dijk’s concept of cultural racism can be located in the discourse of The Danish People’s Party, and what such an occurrence eventually might lead to.
