Due to the fact that Denmark in several global inquiries often has been announced as the happiest people in the world it is remarkable to define happiness, to be able to discuss this concept as an individual as well as a societal term. Our definition of the individual happiness includes a continuous striving towards a better situation. The assumption of understanding and interpretation of this happiness connected to the modern human being is an understanding of society at present and the position of the individual why an investigation of societal construction and development has been made. There are various limitations for individual happiness in modern society since this demands a lot more of the individual than earlier. In the development of society has a series of social pathologies, which influence the human obtaining of happiness. Several of the symptoms for these societal sufferings are seen in the depression, which is constantly increasing along with the prescription of the remedy, antidepressant. Just as there in modern society are opportunities for achieving individual happiness are limitations too, which both are in focus of this assignment
