Cyber Warfare: An Evolution

Phillip I Fan Lu & Minsol Kim

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project explores the origin of cyber warfare. This is done through a historical overview and an analysis of two cases, Estonia 2007 and Korea 2009-2013. Following an inductive approach, this project will create a new general idea of the transitioning of cyber warfare. Since the new millennium, civilization has become more dependent on electronics and networks. Specifically, the use of computers for various tasks and the reliability of the internet to stay connected to one another. This project highlights these events and investigates further on how cyber warfare came about. Events, such as Estonia and Korea, has been used to provide relevant examples for cyber related incidents. A lack of historical context was discovered as no cyber warfare, by definition, has truly happen yet. This premise created our general idea, which explores the maximization of specific platforms causing the move, through innovation/technology, to a new platform. This was conceptualized on basis of all the research presented.
