Christiania has been a highly discussed subject in Denmark, since the day it was established. Since 1971 a conflict has taken place, between Christiania and the danish government, because of the illegal siege of government property. In 2011 a new deal was made, between the two former mentioned parts. The following project will examine the effects, of this deal which purpose is to normalize the area, otherwise known as a very alternative and creative community. First we will go through the historical aspects, which led to the deal from 2011, to get a better understanding of the current situation. We have done this by making document analyses, of former deals and law texts. Further empiricism was gathered by other qualitative methods, such as Interviews and fields research. To describe and analyse the sociological political aspects, we have used eg. Bourdieu’s capitals and Andersen’s empowerment. Further more we want to find out, how the process affects the space that is Christiania. Is this normalization process an gentrification and who has the right to the city (Christinaia)?
