Our focus in this paper has been to examine the citizen participation process behind the project Superkilen in Nørrebro, Copenhagen. By incorporating the Actor-Network-Theory we have uncovered the actors behind the citizen participation process and their interrelations. Using literature by Kasper Møller Hansen, Anne Tortzen and Annika Agger & Birgitte Hoffmann we have formed an informed opinion of what citizen participation entails. Using empirical materials documenting the process, we have analyzed the level of participation in the different phases. Through interviews with the users and analysis of the media’s reviews, we have evaluated the overall satisfaction with the finished city space named Superkilen. We have analyzed the legitimacy/vested interest of the process and the finished result for both the citizens and the politicians. Finally, we conclude which advantages and drawbacks there have been in the citizen participation process in relation to the development of Superkilen.
